Philippines, Tanauan-Batangas - February 22 to March 2, 2024
Mission Purpose – To bring compassionate care and the message of the Gospel to the people of Tanauan-Batangas in the Philippines
Mission History: The first HHMM to the Philippines was in 2005. To date, HHMM has conducted 14 missions to this region of the world.
Over 370 missionaries have attended to the needs of more than 22,400 patients, 760 surgeries have been performed. Additionally, over 4,500 people needing dental care have been attended to.
The overall impact has been positive, we have been able to develop good relationships with local church and government officials. Since HHMM presence is well received by the barangays/communities and the local government is supportive, our plans include continuing to work in the area of Tanauan-Batangas.
Local maladies: Hypertension, diabetes, respiratory and gastric infections, skin diseases, dental infections, thyroid goiters, bulging hernias, etc.
Surgical: This is a surgical mission.
Types of specialties needed for this mission:
- Family Medicine Providers (Physicians, Physician Assistants (PA's), Nurse Practitioners (NP’s)
- Surgery: General surgeons
- Anesthesia: Anesthesiologist and CRNA's
- Dentistry: Dentists and Dental Hygienists
- Optometrists
- Pharmacists and pharmacy Techs
- Nursing: RN’s and LVN’s
- OR personnel: Scrub and Circulating Nurses or Techs
- Physical Therapist and Chiropractor
- Counseling
- Natural Family Planning Instructors
- Non-medical volunteers

Temperatures range from the low 80s to low 90s during the day and 70s in the evenings.

Meet the Medical Director
“Interested in serving God by serving others, I signed up for the Helping Hands Medical Mission Guatemala trip in 2005 and volunteered my services as a dentist. The conditions were far from ideal and from what I was accustomed to, but I was impressed to find HHMM organized, dedicated, respectful to the locals and committed to achieve as much good as possible.
In addition to Guatemala, I also participated in El Salvador, Mexico, Ghana, and the Philippines totaling 18 missions thus far. The patient load sometimes makes for long and challenging days, but as always, the people’s gratefulness was reward enough. Since 2011 I have had the privilege of being the mission director for the HHMM Philippines. The group continues to grow and improve every year as we persistently strive to better anticipate and address the needs of both patients and volunteers.
It has been over ten years since I first signed up with HHMM and my experiences have been more rewarding than I imagined. The feeling of fulfillment that stems from being able to help the needy is unmatched. I am grateful to HHMM for providing me, and countless others, the opportunity to serve God and help make our world a better place.”
